The Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market was created increase the availability of fresh produce and other local products by extending the market season. This market is held indoors December-March at Harmony School in Bloomington and encourages direct contact between producer and consumer to increase understanding of local food economy issues. A variety of local food products are offered from winter greens to chicken to baked goods to plants and much more.
Now in its tenth season, the Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market was founded by local grower Linda Chapman, with financial support from Slow Foods. The Local Growers’ Guild then provided administrative support from 2007-2013 in a collaborative relationship with the market. Beginning in the 2013-2014 season, the market is a project of the Center for Sustainable Living.
