Mother/Daughter Hike at the Beanblossom Bottoms Nature Preserve

Revel in Mother Earth's wonders along with your mother, in honor of Mothers Day Weekend! Sycamore Land Trust's Environmental Educator Maggie Sullivan and her mother Susie will lead this easy walk for all ages, exploring the recently-completed boardwalk loop and observation platforms of the Beanblossom Bottoms Environmental Education Trail. Only 1% of the wetlands Indiana had 200 years ago remain intact. You will forever remember sharing with another generation this remarkable sample of a wetland ecosystem restored and protected forever by SLT.
    Bring binoculars, if you have them, and water to drink. Dress for walking and weather.

SIREN (Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network) is sponsoring an informational and membership meeting at the Monroe County Library Auditorium on May 10, 2008 from 1-3pm. SIREN's goal is to promote solar energy solutions to the Bloomington area and to assist members of the SIREN co-op with renewable energy production. Creating Green Interiors

Interior designer David Gulyas will share new developments in the interior design field: a fast growinf wqorld of green furniture, carpeting, wall coverings, cabinetry and high indoor air quality. Mr. Gulyas will highlight how new high-performance buildings are requiring fresh understanding on the part of interior designers and clients.

Presented by the City of Bloomington Commission on Sustainability and Environmental Commission, and Earth Care, Bloomington's Interfaith Group for the Environment.

There will be speakers, food and drink provided by Bloomingfoods and tabling by various organizations including CSL. The famous waste-food eating, castings making WORMS will be there! This will be the last opportunity to see the special exhibition, Shallow Creek; Thomas Hart Benton and American Waterways.

Clear your closets and clear the air while refreshing your wardrobe. Bring your unneeded clothing (clean and in wearable condition please) on May 24, then "shop" for whatever you can use. No money exchanged! Men's, Women's and Children's items welcome! Leftovers will be donated to Opportunity House.

The course includes theory & practical, visits & videos. Covers organic farming, permaculture, appropriate technology, bee keeping, biodynamic farming, urban sustainablity and much more.
